Dear senator/assemblymember,
We have an affordability crisis, not a housing crisis. The RHNA is too much for our city to safely accommodate — our infrastructure can’t handle the increased population. All of this was in our denied appeal.
We are being set up to fail, and developers will decide how our city grows, not responsible planners.
The RHNA failed audit and has since been proven to be based on faulty population projections. We will not grow by 7 million by 2031; our population will remain flat until at least 2060, according the state department of finance.
Our city paid (xxx) to consultants to put together our housing element, and it still hasn’t passed. (Ask your city clerk for this number. It may stun you.)
Please reconsider the trajectory of where these laws take us. Our city will be bankrupt and destroyed if we keep going this way, and the people who need housing most still won’t have it.
Additionally, you will not have my vote.
Sincerely,
Name, Address, Phone,

Most of our legislators haven’t thought through the ramifications of the legislation they are passing. They are not representing you, they are voting in a block as they are told.
They may not realize, or care, that 85% to 90% of the housing will be market rate. The policy is designed to create so-called “abundant housing” not affordable housing.
By mid cycle your city will be out of compliance, and responsible planning will be replaced by builder’s remedy, SB 35 / SB 423 projects — whatever developers want to do, whenever they want to do it.
Look forward to more of your city funds going to consultants and losing your tax payer dollars to heavy fines if you don’t readily submit to whatever impactful project comes your way.
