So far there are two candidates I highly endorse for office in November.
First, Damon Connolly, a Marin County Supervisor who has well represented Marin's District 1, is in a run-off with Sara Aminzadeh to represent California's the 12th district in the state assembly. He has experienced the hard decisions imposed on California/Marin by the sixth cycle RHNA and witnessed the degradation of local government firsthand. I think he will bring his experience of community involvement and knowledge of the issues we face to Sacramento.
Second, Ranjiv Khush, who is running to unseat Larry Bragman.
He is also endorsed by COST Marin. I saw him speak and had the chance to discuss my water concerns with him, questions I had after reading the MMWD 2020 report and underwhelming Water Resources Plan 2040. He can take a very complex issue and break it down clearly. He has an excellent grasp of our water situation and what kinds of solutions are needed.
Our district is a phenomenal, unique place to live, with extraordinary natural beauty and an innovative spirit. For 18 years I have served my community as a school board member, San Rafael City Councilmember and as County Supervisor.
My public service in local government has been the honor of my life, and we’ve accomplished extraordinary things together so far. I’ve focused on strong environmental advocacy and wildfire prevention, increased access to affordable housing and public transit, and a science-based approach to the pandemic, all while keeping Marin County’s fiscal house in order. I'm a Democrat who believes in progressive action that improves people's lives.
I’m a Bay Area native who attended college and law school at UC Berkeley, and I have lived in San Rafael for the past 25 years with my wife, Dawn, and our two daughters. With Assemblymember Marc Levine seeking statewide office in 2022, it’s time to take what I’ve learned to Sacramento to ensure that Marin and Sonoma counties have a principled and effective voice representing them in the State Assembly's 12th District.
Our community is more engaged than ever, and our representatives must be too. If you'd like to receive regular email updates, please subscribe to my newsletter. Thank you! Damon Connolly
I am a water scientist who has dedicated my career to bringing safe and clean drinking water to the developing world. Marin faces its own water challenges. I am running for water board to use my expertise to ensure our water system is resilient to drought and climate change, responsive to Marin residents and has a strategic plan moving forward.
"Ranjiv is a water scientist uniquely qualified to ensure that the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) has safe, sustainable and affordable water for the foreseeable future. He is an internationally recognized expert who has improved water access and sanitary conditions for vulnerable populations across the developing world with successful, cost-effective, and evidence-based solutions. Ranjiv is running for Water Board to use his world-class expertise to prepare & plan for Marin’s water supply challenges and improve MMWD’s quality of service."
